Collections
The main purpose of the library's stock of books and journals is to
provide a library service for students and researchers specialising in
business economics, business language, history, public administration,
political science, public health and tourism.
The library also includes literature on sociology, agriculture, fishery
plus a large collection of literature on Eastern Europe.
Five of SDUB's special collections are located in Esbjerg. These are
the collections of Julius Bomholt, Arthur Vaag, Horsens Statsskole, Asta
Jepsen and statskonsulent K. Hansen. Find out more about these collections
under special collections.
Availability
A good deal of the library's stock of books and journals is
directly accessible from open stacks, so it is possible to fetch the
requested items oneself. (Bibliographies, reference works, handbooks and
certain journals, however, are only for use on the premises).
Searching
Assistance and services in the use of all of SDUB's collections is given – see collections.
Items can be searched for and requested for loan in the library's online
catalogue ODIN
see Library rules. A number of computers are available on the premises for
searching in the library's online catalogue ODIN,
other libraries' online catalogues, databases, journals, etc.
There is also a plentiful collection of handbooks, bibliographies and
reference books.
In addition, the library is a European Documentationscenter and the
staff can give assistance with documents and publications from the EU.
Facilities
As the library has supervised reading desks and a safe-deposit box,
material that usually cannot be taken out, can be used on the
premises
– see reading room
loan.
It is also possible to make self-service photocopies at the library.
